Odd Parti Bin Weird

The last time I attended a party was two months ago. I rarely go to a party even if i'm invited. I was brought up to attend parties like tahlil, doa selamat, doa arwah and family-related function therefore my definition of party is different.

As for last year, I attended two party events but both ended up with much negative impression which can be seen people commenting about the events on the 'have-your-says' site. Even this blog has been the target before. I still have the post once published here but soon after the surge of traffic coming, I 'depublish' the post. I don't know if there's a word such as depublish. Main hantam saja lah.

So back to the story... what is it? Oh yea party =P

I was invited - last two months - by a friend who's also a photog. He requested me to become one of the photogs for the event. So I accepted. Then I came early at around 7pm. The event suppose to start at 8:30pm. We set up a white-background mini studio at one of the available space at the back of the hall. After that, I went around the area just checking if there were nice spots as alternatives to the white background for photoshoot. I was surprised to see that there were about 2 bouncers standing just infront of the entrance to the hall and two more standing at the main entrance of the building. So I went back to the studio, grabbed a glass of coke on the way.

By 8pm, people started to come into the hall but still it looked empty not until it was 9:30pm. People start to flock into the hall with their costumes and their 'powderful' face haha but something that questioned my mind that night. Why there were only female that came? I didn't have to answer the question but it all revealed during the photoshoot session - actually about 95% who came to the event were boy-girl yaw!!! hahahaha... oh my goodness...

Macam gunting di atas ani ku tarus 'tergamam' haha. Didn't shoot properly that night. Didn't composed the way I should shoot. I drinked a lot of coke available at the minibar in the hall and its bottomless. Every 5 mins, I dropped by the bar and took a glass or two. I don't know if I was thirsty covering the event or thirsty because of the 'girls' hahahaha!!! astee. By 10:30, I was thinking of giving up and planned to go home early but decided to photograph more of the girls - the true ones haha. Finally I gave up at around 11pm after transferring all the photos to a friend's laptop. Inda ku tahan yaw... hahahaha... I was told that the event finished at around 1:30am. I wonder how the rest of the photogs felt throughout the event.

Well, that was two months ago. We were not paid btw as agreed prior to the event. And I now will never ever going to a party or maybe will think twice before attending a party event.

Aku Ada Visits & Presentations

All of a sudden, I have a mood to blog or maybe I am dreaming while typing up for this post. I just woke up after 7 hours of sleeping. And now, its already 3 in the morning!!! My eyes are wide open and I feel fresh. Unfortunately, I have a lecture to catch later at 8 in the morning and that is in 4 hours time+driving =/

I had a trip to the agriculture department in the afternoon in Mulaut and visited two other places. We visited the padi field in Wasan - with the coursemates and then went to a 20 acres of land which almost 90% of the land are filled with agriculture activities. It is the place to store all the flowers, trees and fruits where you can see being placed at the palace, roadsides, airport roundabout and many more. Those plants we saw there are not for sale for the public.

As soon as I stepped out of my car, I straight away smiled because the place reminds of any bollywood movie. I was afraid if suddenly they sounded off some bollywood songs hahahaha!!! It is just full of flowers everywhere. Every one foot step, there must be a flower pot with beautiful flowers on top of it except for the pathways DUH!!! Just before we concluded the visit, the owner generously gave away some pots of colourful flowers to almost all of us and as well some hi-tech fertilizers which you would not be able to obtain locally and the fertilizers look like a huge panadol. The only comparison is the colour, its grey. I brought home the flower and put it at the backyard and I placed the fertilizers next to the cats crackers. Havent told the mother about it. Mudahan tah inda kana bagi makan kucing dangan fertilizers ah... mauk kali eh hahahaha!!!

This semester alone, either field trips or talks occupy each and every of my Wednesdays. I seriously need some rest. Fatigue seems a big problem to me. I tend to sleep long hours after each trips. Furthermore, each days of this week I have presentations. Kalah orang keraja ni yaw... Hujan pun kalah... Temparik lagi beranti. Lecture kadang2 sampai 8:30 malam =S

Anyway, I'm thinking of changing this blog to a personal one. I'm creating a new blog especially for my photography stuffs. Its already in place. Just need to design a bit more and maybe purchase a custom domain for it. Gonna inform it in this blog once I've activated it =)

Maria & Emdie's Wedding Reception

It was the first wedding photoshoot I covered in 2011. I felt a bit rusty though after months of not shooting events but that feeling erased as I photographed this couple. They were just brilliant, acting candidly in front of the camera and all I can say that it made the job easier as the photographer.

Without talking too much... Here you go... =)

And... here's my photo of the day...

I was quite satisfied with my outcomes of the shooting but still there are room for improvement. I'm learning new things as I shoot.

Met My Idola

I met the humble person named Bob only infront of the TV 5-6 years ago admiring his 'lemak merdu' voice but recently, I had a shock of my life when I met him in person while performing for a wedding at BRIDEX. It was great to finally meet my idol though myself is not a singer. Only my fingers sing on the piano LOL.

I've been playing as a replacement keyboardist for one of the top local band where the hall was filled with A-list stars from the US, maybe because of unfamiliarity, I looked at them as if I've had met them for years yeah yeah... just some handshakes and lil bit of intro, that's all. Maybe its because of I am not fond of yang 'terlebih sudah' artists ;)

One after another...

Guess what? I'm back!!! If my memory serves right, the last time I updated this blog was two months ago, in December.

December was indeed crazy. I get to shoot lots of bands and some local artistes for some singles. Not even a single wedding. If every month is like that, theres no need for me to find a job after uni. But market here is not like that. At the end of the day, you need to look back at your root.

Now January has passed. We're in the month of February. I'm back just like the old self but I think I am stuffed with assignments and field works. Field works are crazier than ever!!! What's more can I ask? I'm going out and do some research every week. Talking to people and do some interviews and stuffs. Its tiring. Even my social life has changed a bit. After a whole day of lecture, going home, the next thing I always reach out is the computer after that, the bed. Once I wake up, its the computer again. Putting in all the datas and info. Enough complaining. I already chose the path so I should just follow.

Today, I'll be sharing just two photos of the recent assignment. A friend from the P'to'F asked to be photographed for her single. Photographed Fyqah a couple of times before and she knew already my workflow. We got along fine and gave me some time to work. Made some decent pictures for her single. There are tons to choose. She wanted this and that but she can only have some only to be printed and sent to the censoring board. Yes we do have one =)

So... here are some of it... not the final ones...

So... yeah, i'm back. Need to update this blog regularly again.

Camera On Holiday

Its a real holiday. The semester ends last week. Finally, I sent my camera for repair soon after my exams have finished. I'll be on hiatus from taking pictures using dslr for the time being but my fingers are already itching to get back to shooting photos!!! =(

New body is just around the corner but I think I have to take back my word. Planning to invest on 5Dmkii but seems that the replacement will be released in few months from now (maybe). Well, lets just wait. I'm impressed with D7o0 from Nik-on coz of its image quality but changing system wont be the right thing as I have some lenses that are not worth selling. Well... just wait just wait just wait... just waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit....

Anyway, the picture above was taken last year when I joined a photography workshop organised by CS Brunei. Was taken using somebody's camera and somebody's lens. Was digging thru the archive then found this photo. And I've just realised that I have lots of stock photos which are not published here and everywhere else. Mun ada tampat menjual bah... jadi usin jua tu hehe.

Ooo... argghh... torture is not the right word to use but I feel tortured for not taking pictures using dslr. Maybe I should start shooting using the phone camera LOL haha. I just can't wait for my camera. Once I get hold of it again... Mencari tah ku dangan untuk tag along wedding tu hheheheheheheheheh

I Turn 23 on the 23rd

Last year today, I had an exam. Having exam on one of the important days of your life somehow puts you down... really down... down and down (majal...) down... But today, I have no exam!!! Yeah... it feels great. So great that is to receive lots of text messages and fb comments since I woke up this morning wishing me a happy birthday. Everyone has different styles of writing greetings. Some say only thank you some with the long one but the one with the long sentences really made your day... Different humour and jokes from different people made you to smile whole day long. I just feel happy... I don't know why... Maybe Freud knew the answer... (stop being a geek will ya?? *smack on the head)

So, I will be celebrating the birthday after the exam. I have two papers to sit for tomorrow and one on Thursday. Despite the exam, the family bought a cake for a mini-celebration after the dinner and this is it...

I admit, I'm a bad blogger. Almost a month now didn't update this blog. I've been swamped... with work. Next week is the start of the exam... and after that, I think I deserve a long holiday. Yeah...

Its the revision week this week where there will be no lectures and tutorial. I'm just staying at home stuffing the head with the lecture notes and tutorial papers revising what supposed to be revised for the exam. But tonight, I went out with some of the photography friends from the forum shooting at the pasar malam in Gadong. Basically, I shoot anything that I saw infront of me. Just a random one.

Its been weeks that I didn't hold my dslr. Felt rusty when I went to press the shutter button. Well... Just some of the pictures from tonight's outing...

There are some people who doesn't mind to be photographed but this guy kept on covering his face til I moved to other place. Well, you dont need to become a zorro infront of me. I understand =P

For sure, waiting for the customers to come to your stall really tiring yourself. I recently held an exhibition at the yayasan for the course that I am currently undertaking at the uni, I went there as early as 9am and went back home at around 8pm. I crashed straight away everytime I reached my bed for the 3 consecutive days of the exhibition.

Fieldwork & Babbbbbles

Doing some research and surveys are seriously fun. You get to meet a lot of people for the first time, phoned people you don't know and ofcourse, you will be travelling a lot. I've been doing this for the past three weeks under a new programme that I am doing. What you have learnt in uni about the research you are doing and what you have experienced in real life are different.

You met with some great people with different attitudes. Some were cooperating and some were a little bit 'challenging' hehe... Well, at the end of the day, you only take the positives.

Writing is one of the methods to immortalize what we had heard apart from video recording, voice recording and so on. They are 'potatoes and chips' to me... How do you say that in Malay ah? 'Nasi dan ayam' kali bisai atau... its like a nasi katok to me yea whatsoever... haha...

This is one of many people I interviewed when I was in KB. Used to be teacher and now working to produce some kind of organic fertilizer to make it as one of the products to be produced at a small scale and to be sold locally. But... not anytime soon...

Here is one dilapidated house I came across while travelling around places I never stepped into.

To say its an enjoyment to have the chance to do all those things... Yes... Its been a really good experience and how I gained knowledges more rather than sitting in class listening to lecture and stuffs haha... But the most enjoyable thing is that I get to take lots of pictures..!!! But when it comes to presenting your work in lecture, when the lecturer does not believe that the picture is not mine... what I can do is just...

His First Single...

I finally granted to post the picture here in the blog, see the previous post HERE. The photoshoot was done three weeks ago. The initial plan was to have the photoshoot with the sunset as the backdrop but since we always procrastinate whenever we met... We tend to talk about stuffs and share some crazy jokes, it dragged from sunset to night time. Blue hour to pitch dark sky... The photoshoot was very important but we made it like it didn't mean anything hahaha as a result, strobing is the only way to light up the subject.

We had the photoshoot in two sessions, both outdoor... The first one was just a pre-session but it turned out all the photos are usable to be used as the front cover of the cd or for the secondary pictures. And despite the rain on both sessions.. we managed to get around 200 photos which selecting which photos which can give you an extreme headache ;) and... I felt like I was soaked in water at the end of the day ;)

So this guy, Mienul, will be releasing his single tomorrow afternoon. I wish him good luck with his singing. Hopefully we can work together again in the near future... =)

Being Unproductive

I've been very unproductive during the raya. I left my camera most of the time at home or carry it around but never pull it out from the camera bag. I'm in raya mood...!!! hehe. Every place I went, there's at least one person carrying a dslr and there's a high chance you will be photographed and the photos will be posted in fb and you will be tagged as well... haha yeah.

People asked me why I didn't bring the camera... I'm just comfortable carrying my G10 compact cam which somehow you feel like cursing because G12 is just released few days ago. I just put it in my pocket, just in-case something interesting that attract my attention to be photographed =) G10 is small, lightweight and rugged!! It produces great quality pics too. Well its down to my own preferences.

In the next few days or weeks, I will be experiencing perhaps a month or less of period of time without a dslr. Its already time to have it serviced and replaced the worn-out hardwares. This time there'll be no delay, once I finished doing some graduate photoshoots, then... KAPOOF!!!!

More P-Shoot

It was around 15minutes after my lecture finished that I had to make a u-turn, going back to Gadong because I forgot that I had a photoshoot session. My phone supposed to vibrate to remind me about the session but I accidently set it to silent mode instead of my own 'lecture mode' which the phone will only vibrate when somebody calls, sms, alarm or whatsoever...

So, I met with the friends at the jolibee before we embarked to the place where the photoshoot should take place. It was already late and took away the food that we ordered and we set for iftar first. We had our iftar under the gloomy sky. The sun was blocked by the clouds and barely we could not see the colour of the orangy sunset that we expected to see. It was cool outside. But 20 minutes later, we witness the blue hour together till the sky turned pitch black while eating our nasi ayam, burgers and spaghettis ;) I didn't bring my camera along as I though we could make it in time to have the photoshoot. I was wondering why I didn't bring the camera and photograph the friends during the blue hour?? haha... Oh btw, Gadong's traffic yesterday was crazy!!! That was one of the million reasons why we couldn't make it on time. Empty parking lot was difficult to find... =S =P ;)

Once we finished our sungkai, went to an area which is 10 minutes away by car. Initially, I planned to have the p-shoot during daylight where I wanted to include the sunset colour and all that in the picture. But instead, I obliged to improvise everything. Took out the softbox, pulled out the speedlites - one acted as the master and the other one as the slave. After I set up everything then we were ready to have the shooting.

And these are the photos I took during the break in-between shooting. I actually shoot a male friend who is about to release his single in about 2 weeks time which I am disallowed to post it here but the clue is on the second picture for whoever who recognises her =D

The drumsticks tell you that the person is a drummer... D'oH!!!! haha... is he?

Having to work only with one light source is not a big deal... but it was the rain make the shooting difficult and the wind too!!! The lens back-focused too often when shooting at night but everything was fine as long as I didn't lose my patience ;) Anyway, the background is abit underexposed, if not, very underexposed ;) I picked up the camera without realising that I accidently turned the thumbwheel on the camera thus changing all the settings I had set for the shoot ;) All in all, it was a successful session despite all the problems that we had to overcome. Two more added in the CV =) nyehehe...

The weather was gloomy... I saw lightnings a few times while I was driving to the Empire from uni and not long after that, it rained heavily. I was wondering how I am going to do the photoshoot as the initial plan was to have the shooting outdoor but 30 minutes after shooting indoor, the rain ceased away. Btw, a friend of mine Khairil wanted to have the photoshoot session for his big project. How big it is... i don't know haha. And... lets JUMP to the pictures!!!! Enjoice =D

The pose above is not the proper one hehe this is the not ready yet pose. The hands still stuck inside and there's a spill of light on the right side of the face.

Anyway, it was a successful 1st session photoshoot with him. Another session will be during the raya. I'm gonna update again once we finished the next session shoot with Khairil =)

Btw, I have a photoshoot again next Monday. Hopefully its not to be on a sun-shiny day haha... Puasa ani nyamu, inda tahan kan bepanas ;)

Gerai Ramadhan Outing at the Stadium

Finally I get to visit the gerai at the stadium. Outing with the 'forumers' this afternoon and went for a shooting spree!!! ;) I don't know if that's the right word or I will be trouble with that?? Hope not =) I used my trusty 450d out with the kit lens mounted on it. And... tadaaa... hehe I edited the pictures manually to black and white and I thought my b&ws are suck!!! haha... I used to turn pictures into b&w using some presets but yeah this time I tried to edit it as a whole using the photoshop... Everytime I look at the pictures again... I always think that my b&w suck a lot!!! HAHAAHA... Well, better to keep on using the preset the next time I post some b&w pictures ;)

I was trying to find a template for the blog so that I can fit a 1024px wide here. But there isn't any that is free... All are the premium templates which cost a lot! I ain't gonna pay money which cost me a toe or a nose... =P I'll try to find again if there's a template or maybe an internet application just to showcase and make use the width of the flickr size image for the blog.

The post that I forced myself to write...

Its been a week today since we started fasting. I have not been given heavy workload just yet but I'm expecting it to come in the next few weeks or maybe days!!! =) So i'm still in a relax mood, enjoying every moment before the head turns upside down thinking of assignments and presentations. Boleh liat cerita upin ipin ni the whole series hehe.

I haven't go out and do a proper shooting. Perhaps going out to the tamu sometimes around this week with the forum members, insyaallah. I have one photography assignment btw for somebody who will be releasing his single pretty soon =) I think that's my only assignment this month and then I'll be in dormant state again before starting to shoot again during the raya.

At the moment, I have to delay the plan to upgrade my photography gears. Aaaaa maybe by the end of the year. I'm investing on something else which hopefully will be rewarding to me for my future =) The current camera really needs to be serviced and the shutter needs to be replaced. Didn't have the chance to service the camera few weeks ago in S'pore. Tutup tia service centre nya ah. I think the shutter speed already exceeds 70000. Anytime from now on, i'm sure the shutter mechanism soon will die nyahaha. I better find something to do in case I cannot shoot pictures anymore for the next few days... Maybe reading lots of books??? ;)

Btw, I'm taking my time updating this blog as too much things to sort out. Did several photoshoots for the past weeks but won't be posting the pics here. Was planning to stop from taking pictures for a week or two but I just couldnt resist holding a camera. I did stop from holding my camera for one day. The next day... haha, went out for a street candid. And that's the end of my hope of not taking pictures for a week ;)

In case if im not updating this blog for the next few days, would like to say happy ramadhan mubarak to all muslims. Happy fasting everybody =D

C9 in Batu Marang

Salam. This month has been a hectic month for my gulintangan team Canang Sambilan. We played every weekends performing for wedding receptions. So yesterday was a unique one as we played in Kg Batu Marang. This time we travelled by boat to transport our instruments to the groom's place.

Once arrived at the groom's house and settled everything down, we went to look for a spot for group photo. And I saw this scenery...

There were many spots to take photos here. Good for people who are doing landscapes. Just take out your wide-angle lens and go there during sunset or sunrise. Been here before for a sunset and sunrise shoots. I've been overwhelmed... Its a beautiful place... And not to forget the never ending wind blowing from the sea... Nyaman tidur ni... =D

and here's our group photo... I was being extra cautious as the tripod I was using was not strong enough to withstand the force incase there's a strong wind blowing. Nyehehe...

Intan & Izham Wedding Day

I had a wonderful time taking photos at the Bridex conference hall on Friday afternoon. Was covering for Ucingitam.com for the bride side.

It was my first time to step foot there and found out that the hall is extremely big. Outside of the hall, the architectures are just awesome. There are just lots of photo oppurtunities only to find out that the sky wasn't being friendly to us that afternoon. It was raining after 15-20mins doing the outdoor portraiture shoot ;)

Btw, it was a 2-in-1 event. The solemnization took place first then followed by the majlis bersanding =)

Catching Up With Friends & Mini Photoshoot.

Every holiday... there'll be at least a day that I will spend an afternoon with the best friends having lunch and mini-photoshoot. We've known like about 5 years already?? yeah... We've known each other when we were still studying at the 6th form college. Now, everyone is busy studying. Everyone is studying in university, taking different programmes, and we don't have much free time to catch up... and and and one of us is studying in UK who currently happens to be in Brunei having his summer holiday. So we were reunited once again...

So last Saturday, we went out. Had lunch at McD before went to JP for the mini photoshoot, its a ritual thing to do everytime we meet hehe. So yeah... vaining session. Basar udah!!! hahahahaha!!!

The weather was gloomy, the sky was orange-red and it drizzled before the rain started to pour heavily. I just love the colour during the sunset. It really made me wanted to stay out in the rain just to witness the sun going down the horizon... but the rain prevented me from doing so and... the friends too...!!!

I had a gig with my gulintangan team, Canang Sambilan, tonight at the Empire Hotel. We performed at the Pantai Rst for some kind of a meeting about energy efficiency and lalala ;) You know how it feels when performing on the gulintangan for 2 hours?? Mambang jua tangan haha fortunately I only played the keyboard for the whole session.

Anyway... where was I? hehe... I managed to take a silhouette pic of the team before we all ran to cover ourselves under the roof from the sudden heavy rain =P So here it is...

Was planning to take a wider angle picture of the guys than the above... Nanti taaaaah... =D I wasn't in the pic btw eventho I was using tripod for the shoot. Don't find me there hehe.

And... we were lucky to have a generous and kind-hearted pehin who treated us for the dinner at the end of the show at the restaurant itself. Alhamdulillah. Kenyang parut ani... Mudahan jua malar cemani ani =P Atu ya kembang mengembang terkembang macam gong usulnya dalam seminggu wawawawa...

Relaxes & Workshops

I've been taking things slowly these days. I didn't hold my camera for the past few days. And today is the fourth day without clicking the shutter button. Holiday means not going to work, wake up late, playing PS games, surfing on the internet, sitting in front of the piano for hours reading music notes playing music and relax. Argh no... Soon I'll be assigned to arrange songs for a school gulintangan team as they will be performing for something I, from my strong mind, I can't remember hahaha. Its easy peasy as long as I am not asked to compose a song. I'm not good at that.

For the past two days as well, I went to the qlap mall to catch two movies. Prince of Persia and Shrek respectively. Both movies have a similarity. Its the endings!!! Which really surprises me ;) I had a fun time watching Shrek. A lot of laughter throughout the one and half hour movie on the other hand, POP is a bit of serious movie yea yea yea some humours ofcourse and romance too. Enjoyed the two movies. Worth the $4 tickets to watch on both days but not more =) I think its my only way to escape from the hectic world out there. I was watching the movies alone!!! A bit of anti-social perhaps from my true self ;) Well well well... Once in a while... =D

Concerts are finally over... Last Saturday was the last one but I received two more offers inviting me to cover. Syukur tah... sapa membagi and one will be in Miri which I have yet to decide to take it or not. It'll be in December. I'm going intarnasiyunal bebeh!!! with cheap camera body and lenses =S hehe... *sigh* hehuha.................................. *sigh* 'let me think cook cook purse' WAHAHAHAHA...

I'm thinking of joining more photography workshops locally organised and abroad. Thinking of investing the prize money from the assignments to gain and develop more skills in photography. Its a serious hobby of mine. I need to get inspired from the best photogs in the industry. Anywayyyy... I think I'm very particular when it comes to photo compositions. I'm not looking for a tutor who knows only about colour tones but bad compositions on whichhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I didn't join last time. Now I must listen to the heart on to which workshops to join. Come on...!!!

I actually don't like the presence of the big huge monitor speakers infront of the stage. They're just too big. But they are very important for the performers ;) And one more thing is that, performing in the country, and get the best shots that you usually see from the best concert pictures are 90% impossible.

Another concert???

Went to JP tonight to witness a mega concert organised by my former music school Expression music. It was a great concert but a nightmare for every photographers shooting for the event. The lighting was very bad. Same like last week when I was covering for P2F. Was sitting at the back just to see how the lighting man doing the job. For how many thousands of dollars the school has invested just to make the mega concert successful, the lighting man really need to cooperate at the same time. It was all over the place. Suppose that we need to focus on the important thing for example when a singer sings at a position but the lighting was at different place.

I thought I was the one and only person complaining. Jason of 'M' studio, the official photog was complaining about the light too!!! haha D3 sudah tu ah. Get to play with his canon 400mm f/2.8L tonight. Oh my, what a buffalo. Barat... Btw, he used both canon & nikon and... olympus the last time I met him during a wedding.

Well well well... It was just another night =)

Last Day of School

It was the last day of school today before the students will be having their holiday starting from tomorrow for a period of two weeks. For us, teachers, kami pun cuti. Btw Im a teacher in-training - still =) The school had their sports day this morning and I was assigned to wait at a checkpoint infront of the 3-junctions in Lambak. I was lazy today. Slept the whole afternoon. Transferred the pictures into the hard drive just now. Uploaded em to flickr straight away without edit (most of em laa) and put em in the blog hehe... No borders maaaa... =)

When I Hit The Street...

My speedlite is now on its way to KL. For those who doesnt know the story, check the previous post. Went to Tutong this afternoon to meet mr Han. Gave the speedlite and the warranty card to him and straight away he wrapped my speedlite and ready to be sent to KL. Mudahan dapat pakai warranty nya atu untuk rusak hotshoe aaaaa... Visited the mosque there for a zuhur prayer, been a long time didn't go there then drove all the from Tutong to RTB bandar to submit my latest and final assignment (the final concert pics) and after that I had this itchy feeling that I wanted to shoot street candids around the city. So I parked my car at the yayasan area and wandered around the city and take photographs of people candidly from distant...

Actually I never done anything like this before but all of the sudden I had this urge to take photos on the street... Furthermore, I was alone shooting. Perhaps, I was the only one in the city holding a camera with big lens. It was kinda embarassing though because people notice about you. Walaupun jauh... but yeah... whatever. They are not going to remember you tomorrow unless the person has an extremely strong mindpower =P

Bad Day & Bad Week

Finally, its finished... no more concerts to cover. No more pictures to be edited... I've edited em all last night til sunrise - just a quick touch up on all of the pics. Its a bittersweet experience but whats more is that the ending left a big hole inside the heart. My speedlite was knocked over by somebody's child during the rehearsal and the hotshoe broken... Will be sending them to mr.Han in Tutong. Still got warranty mehhh... but I don't know if its still valid or not as the expiry date is not mentioned on the warranty card. If not, interhouse is the place to visit =S Went to Tutong today in the afternoon for an engagement event of a friend in Kg Bakiau then afterward went to mr.Han camera shop. He wasn't around... dier pegi outing lerrr haha. I'll be going down to Tutong again on Tuesday - udah ku text c Han tu... ;) Flash oh flash... Another thing is that... I just realised that my cheap plastic superfast 50mm f/1.8 lens is broken yesterday. Ada2 saja... udah abis concert atu... pandai ya kan minta usin. Won't buy another 50mm lens since I rarely use it for anything. I've been using 85mm f/1.8 for most of the time now... Love the creamy bokehy background yumyum... Bokeh bulat inda lawa hahaha =P

Btw, this is a shot I took during a friend's engagement day this afternoon... Saw a man behind the curtain looking curiously at what was happening during the event. SNAP!!! nah... dapat bui hehe.

I wasn't the official photographer for the event. So I just take photos for the blog =)

There was a problem with the spare speedlite that I used this afternoon. It didn't fire during the 'moment' - menyarungkan cincin. Baik jua bukan official... nada cali tu haha. And I exercises a lot because of this...

Used two camera bodies, one with the wide angle (used to take this picture hehe) and one with that big huge white lens in the picture above. Didn't have to go to gym... I did some work-out by doing some bicep curling everytime I wanted to shoot using that white lens hahahaha... It was tiring. It was heavy... that's why I refused to use it for the last 9 concerts.

So yeah... concert finished. I'll be on holiday from attachment work starting from the 4th June for two weeks yeah!!! Love it haha. Tho... the flash and my 50mm irritates me much... well... what can I do?? Just keep on smiling =) Hal ibtisaami jamiil?? HAHAHAHA...

The Last Days

It will be soon, over... My final assignment is on Saturday. I wonder, how it feels like when suddenly things get back to normal after 11 weeks of shooting concerts. Gonna miss the whole thing. Going to miss all the peeps behind the stage - the artistes too!!! and I will miss my camera shutter soon... it needs to be replaced haha LOL. 60,000 shots already, anytime the camera will die. 100000 shutter lifenya btw. Perhaps, the camera needs a new owner after this? =)

Anyway, went to JP to check out the rehearsal this afternoon.

The lightings & the PA systems were all in placed ready to be used for this Saturday night finale.

Seats are all arranged properly and ready to accomodate about 2000-3000 people coming to the concert.

The swinging legs... waiting for the rehearsal to start as it was delayed for about 3 hours due to technical errors.

Fiq was thinking about life after concert... Life will not be the same after graduating from the P-to-Eff. A lot of people now know who is he.

Who else other than the one who won many female fans throughout this season's concert?

Kabak-kabak ku eh... the phrase used by this contestant, Mienul, before and after he performs. He's really in a 'kabak-kabak' mode knowing that he managed to win votes from the fans and be in the final and one of the candidates who has the chance to grab and win the champion's grand prize.

Camcorders constantly moved around during the rehearsal to ensure that everything looks lively on tv.

Shah as the first to perform on Saturday night rehearsed with the band on the stage.

The show will not be entertaining without the one and only - FR. The best emcee so far in the local industry. Concert host.

Its one more concert to go before everything comes to its conclusion. Enjoying the last days with the p-too-eff family. yehaaaa...

btw... up til now, there are 400++ friend requests which I have yet to approve at FB. Its all because of this hehe =) Well... I'll see who I will approve. Or else.... the opposite.

Just err concert again... & something.

It was the semi-final concert yesterday. Two more were voted out. I was quite disappointed that Ryatul was one of two. Well, its the reality. Lets just face it =D And... and... and...I too had bad luck on Saturday. The car broke down after I went to the UBD mosque for a zuhur prayer, the battery went flat. I had to go for a briefing at 2pm and it was ten minutes before the briefing started kerita mati aaaaa. So I left the car behind and it stranded overnight at the mosque. Ada orang jaga kali ah..... =D

The briefing ended at 4pm. Well, it was kind of ameeting instead. 2hrs ah, buleh haha. So I followed the father home and drove another car to RTB that night. Phew... Macam. Baik jua dah abis exam haha inda kena mengena =P

Well, four of the second season contestants performed on the Saturday night concert. It was great to meet them again.... backstage haha. And great to see all of this season's contestant were as well came to the concert that night. So full house la.. And shutterku pun banyak bepakai =P

So for today's post featuring Ezah of the 2nd season.

I see comments on the fb saying the lighting was great. Macam studio tia apa gambar2 ah LOL. It was actually a big NO! I'm thinking of making a post on that once the concert finish, I'll tell stories of what I experienced, what I like, what I don't like and many more. Liatlah nanti... stay tune saja =D

Week in week out, the same group of people come wearing the same clothes and asked me to photograph them. Well layan. Its quite boring already after 9th concert doing the same thing but somehow I came up with an idea haha. I dragged the shutter long and did the trick... and walaaaa.............

I once did the trick when I first own a camera but never do it again til last Saturday night, masa atu time iski dulu tu baru migang2 kimira =D

And last but not least, my exam has FINISHED!!!!

Last paper & Concert...

Tomorrow is my last paper for the exam and its on the last day of the semester too. Most of the friends from different courses have already finished theirs in the first week... aku?? pengabisan =( Nevermind. Tomorrow lunch time, I'll be free!!!!!!! haha... But wait... I have attachment starting from Monday onwards for two months. And that will going to use my two months of holiday... Anyhow, hope I will enjoy the attachment. Meet some new friends and be a better person in the real life working environment.

Anyway... I took this picture some weeks ago at the backstage. Actually the pictures are not meant to be like these. They are just for the future reference of the management all the poses are of the modest ones but these... are just for fun!!! =D It was quite difficult to do some high fashion and editorial shoot due to the lacking of equipments and stuffs. So... What else I can do? EDIT!!! wawawwawa.

Both of them were voted out last week. They were, I believe, set the standard on the stage for all of the other contestants. Shah with all his gimmicks and dances while eqah with her strong vocal. But not to forget who are still staying and fighting for their place for the final concert... Azim and Ryatul, vocally they are extremely very good. Azim, has a wide range of voice which resembles that of Anuar Zain LOL yea but true & Ryatulllllll, the Ella of Brunei. They should be firing in all cylinders singing their songs tomorrow night as what I saw during this afternoon rehearsal. It was great to see that the locals managed to spot their talents. Its a joy to watch. Don't watch it on TV, come to dewan raya. The quality of the show on tv, sucks to the extreme.

So, what to expect for tomorrow?
Four of the 2nd season contestants will be performing.

It was their big day today for Dillah (Awang) & Wani, remember my recent pre-wedding shot? HERE. I wasn't the official photog for the event. Didn't take lots of photos, didn't wander around and follow Awang for the ziarah. I spent lots of time with the gulintangan gangs =) Ala kadar tah saja gambar2 ani. Initially,I was planning just to bring my P&S camera but changed my mind at the very last moment haha. There was a good thing I brought my dslr, I get to borrow wide angle lens from si Artison hahaha... Keracunan tarus eh macam inda mau lapas lens ah, thanks jun.

May 'Teh' First

So far, I've covered 7 concerts of the local reality tv show. There are four more concerts to go. 11 concerts altogether btw. After each concert, I learned a new thing. I learned what to expect. I learned what to shoot. And... I learned how to use JPEG all the way haha. All these while, I shoot concert using RAW images which requires a lil bit of post-processing and stuffs and... I stopped doing that after the 3rd concert. 4th concert onwards, I shoot JPEG all the way from doing the photo shooting at the backstage til the end of the show. And I handed in my 'straight from the camera' images the next two day - non-edit!!!

And after the concert just now, I finished doing everything already. Its now 2am in the morning - selecting the pictures out of 1000 pics (each concert - for sure it gives you a headache) then, you arrange the pics according to the timeline, burning the pics to CD then walaaa... I'm getting good at this hahaha I did everything in just one night now =)

What I learned from what I have experienced so far is that working in the real situation is really demanding. Sometimes, it can lead you go stress. Learning in school doing the exercises and assignments, they are just unreal in some sense. And I found this good quote... I googled ni antadi hehe...

Anyway... here I put some random pictures I took today.

I found this pic very interesting. Azim sang the Indonesian 'rek ayo rek' song as if the language is his mothertongue. Fluent usulnya haha. The song is funny and catchy. And... I immediately burst my shutter I saw he opened his eyes that wide (the picture). Out of the 5 pictures, this one really attracted my attention =)

That was unexpected. This was the last performance of the night before the theme song dance. Bombay made a special appearance to entertain the crowd by singing her new rendition of song... aku lupa udah nama lagunya LULz... btw, love the gritty look of the b&w pic ohohohoh...

After covering the 5th concert last night, went to a cafe in Mata-Mata for a lil chat with the fellow photographers - Armie & Azme. Chat after chat, it was almost 1am before the 3 of us all went out of the cafe haha. Oh btw, saw a Lambo crashed on the way to the cafe. Its front and the back, all broken into pieces, just left with the car body itself. It was a self-accident coz I didn't see any other car involved.

As I reached home, transferred all of the pictures I took during the concert to my hard drive then went to surf the internet til 2am. And only that I realised I have a shooting again in the morning. Had just 3 hours of sleep... and woke up at 5:30 for Subuh prayer and off I went to Gadong for the photoshoot.

It was a pre-wedding shoot of dilah (also known as Awang) and Wani. The photoshoot was held as early as 7am when the area was still very quiet. I love watching, learning, and just enjoying being in love's presence. And that is what it feels like being around Awang and Wani - being in love's presence, and then dipped in a layer of sunshine, tenderness, and laughter. So much laughter :) I think this is one of the best couple I've ever photographed =) And... yea...

I just love how the pattern of the ferns.

Saw this huge tree from distant and decided to bring them there... Twas loveleeeyh!!! =)

I kept on telling them that after that, it was going to be the last shot of the day but ideas started to pour more and more and we decided to take more shots. Mind you, it was very hot down this morning and very humid too. It was enough to make you go sweating in just few 20-30m walk. Fortunately the trees saved us and gave us shade during the whole session. So please save the trees. Don't cut them down =D

Eventhough it wasn't the best time to bring them out for outdoor portraiture, the lighting was harsh, their family photog couldn't make it (dapat jua pigangkan reflectorku haha), and due to time constraint and work commitment... Pagi tah saja... It was a great photoshoot with the couple. I enjoyed it. And this is my first solo pre-wedding assignment apart from doing concert photography as the main photog =)

Its difficult to update the blog lately. I wanted to update but my conscience tells me NO...!!! but don't always believe in your conscience, I'm blogging now ;) Somehow blogging kinda a stress therapy for me... yada yada... I have piles of assignments on the shoulder, a presentation and two written test in the coming week. The exam is just around the corner but the lecturers love to give this kind of work at this time of the year when everyone should already starts their revision =D Do you smell sarcasm just now? heh... And yeah, I need to blog to relieve stress and stuffs. I have yet to upload and update some pictures at the facebook. I just don't have time at the moment. The guys already asking for their pictures to be uploaded haha just wait laaa kawan. After tomorrow's presentation and Friday morning test, I think I need a day of relax. Just stay at home, watch TV and sleep. My schedule for the week is very tight argh... Furthermore, it really is affecting teh social life. I don't do jogging for the past two weeks. Its because of all these...

Cousins' Majlis Bepacar

This time, I am going to see myself two cousins of mine going to have their wedding on the same stage and at the same time - one after another =) Haven't seen their partners yet... will be posting more tomorrow insyaallah... Well, I should say... I don't very much like shooting indoor but there's nothing I can do about it... "must like" tah ;) I prefer outdoor portraitures. I love the natural background rather than using a backdrop. Yeah, self-preference =D

Today's post features one of the local artistes from the reality tv show, Eira. Before each concerts, we had a quick photoshoot once the contestants done with their make-up & hair do... Since its a quick photoshoot, I just bounced the light on the ceiling... as simple as that =) Tarang tia haha ok that sounds lame... =P

Anyway... I received 2 mails recently asking if I could take pictures for wedding... Hehe...
At the moment, alum lagi... I don't dare taking a wedding assignment alone. Wait til I feel I have enough experiences and gears =) I'll tell, when I'm ready. I'll advertise somewhere... ada tah 'namang'ku tu palak2 haha.

I got the chance again to tag along to a wedding in Kg Madewa with Azmi of Ucingitam.

Still, there are many things left out... Mun aku jadi official photographer, gerenti kepisan ni missed some moments ani hehe well, I am still in the learning process. I observed a lot and ofcourse I learned a lot from the first two weddings I covered. Hopefully things develop after shooting some more weddings in the near future, insyaallah, amin.

My Life So Far...

Hi there... Its been 2 weeks that I didn't have proper music practice, just some casual ones playing songs of my likings. Its been weeks as well that I didn't have any gulintangan gig with my gulintangan team, Canang Sambilan. Not that I didn't receive any calls or messages, I just refused to accept some invitations. If I am not available on the day, should be okay. If my gulintangan player or my bassist could not play, then I have to cancel. I don't want to take any risk anymore playing without those two important players. Inda ikhlas rasanya perform untuk orang. Another thing is pricing... that one... I leave it to you to figure it out - cost of our instruments and our service =) So, until last night... I started practicing on the piano balik... yes, properly. I have a 10-pages music score to be memorised for some events in May & June. Maybe I just recite the music if I could not fully memorise the song hehe.

And yeah... time flies. P2F concert is tomorrow. I went to check the lighting at the studio this afternoon. The lightings were great... If you focus right at where the spotlight falls, at f/2.8, you still can get speed of 1/400-1/500. Yes, it was very bright!!! If anywhere else, at f/1.8, still the speed is fast enough to freeze the contestants' movements. Fastest speed for the day at the studio was 1/1200 at f/1.8 Hehe... aperture mode saja.

Just two pictures from what I took at the studio 4... I photographed the band while they had their practice.

Ini aku suka!!! Pasal piano keyboard pemainan ku!!! haha... Isuk tah lagi mengacau =)
Btw, I put more noise to the pictures above... I love noisy B&W pics. Should have added more... ;)

And... finally I have to officially tell my readers that I am the...

Yes, the official photographer for this season's local reality tv show. How did I get the job? I don't know. Among hundreds of photogs out there with 1D, 5D, D3s and D700... This guy with only 450D was chosen. I feel happy at the same time I kept thinking, can I deliver and produce good images?? I know I'll be shooting using the D300s with 70-200 provided. A canon user using a nikon? haha... yeah... but... I think I need support from you guys. I've seen many great images. I've seen thousands of concert photos. So my expectation is high... If I don't produce good ones, I feel I might disappoint the management but... Alhamdulillah so far, its been good~ They trusted me and give support as well. Take 500 pictures (plus minus repetitive shots) 200 are always okay. Time to improve the 'okay' shots to 300 this time, hopefully =)

Okay guys, wish me luck shooting for concert tonight!! =D

Wedding Reception: Zack & Dr Wadi Hana

Hi, as promised... here you go my take on the majlis bersanding of Zack (Zakaria) & Dr Wadi Hana.

Didn't stay til the photoshoot session finished at the end of the event, had to rush off to qlap to cover the p2f meet up with W.C. Iatah saja ni... Gambar c Zack pun inda banyak, that's something I need to work out in the next assignment - many more pulang. All in all, it was a great experience taking photos for wedding. It was my first time, really!! No experience at all, just blog jumping at some wedding photographers' blogs the night before the events, scrolling down the page, looking at each pictures and so on...

I love looking at the CS photographers' work from Malaysia, I am inspired by them. Also, I always visited some western wedding pictures from some great photographers worldwide though they are different to Malay wedding. I don't want to name any... banyak traffic karang... biar tia low profile dulu =D W.C sudah sampai 500+ visitors per day this week hehe. Now the traffic slows down already and goes back to normal =)

Last word... I love wedding photography...!!

First time la ni aku ambil gambar untuk wedding... Initially, what to shoot pun aku tak tau. Harapkan liat technique cara orang menggambar saja hehe. Banyak lagi kan dipelajari. Banyak moment lagi tinggal... So everything yang tinggal atu pun I jotted down lah arah checklist... next time, boleh tambah sikit2 lagi =D

Thee Daddy's Birthday

Today is daddy's 51st birthday. I'm still 22. Kanak-kanak masih haha. As usual, we celebrated his birthday by having dinner outside. This time was at the Seasons rest, centrepoint Gadong. I know the siblings are always looking forward to this... When there's somebody turn one year older, we saved our stomach by not indulging too much food for the whole morning, sikit saja, then when dinner comes, only then we stuffed our stomachs with all the meals prepared and ready to be eaten =) Oh... I love Salmon but RBC did not serve one today.

Supposed that we usually have the dinner on Tuesday but since daddy will be going to Thailand tomorrow, we decided to have the small celebration today. Why always Tuesday? Baked salmon yaw!!! Siput nait heh!!! tapi di Airport rest saja tu bukan di Seasons =)

And yeah... I would love to say happy birthday to daddy. Semoga panjang umur murah rezeki dad. Bawa chocolate balik banyak2 dari Thai hehehehehehe =D

Hi, sorry for the late update. I could not access to the internet since yesterday morning til 6pm today. I won't complain... malas ku udah hehe So what I did today was...

I had a wedding tag along with Ucingitam in the morning at ICC for besanding event and a coverage for p-2-f contestants meeting with Wu Chun at his fitness zone in Qlap.

I'll post some wedding pictures from this morning tomorrow insyaallah if the pictures are 'lawa' if not... I'll post something else =P So for today...

Btw, I was approached by one of the official photogs when I was taking pictures and he said, "Tarang kan pakai rebel camera di dewan siling tinggi ani? Orang lain pun boleh ni tapi blur & noisy". I smiled and continued taking photos without saying a word back. Well oh well, I wish him to have a good career as a photographer for many years to come =)

Last Sunday at ICC

Last Sunday, I went out to test the new lens. Went to ICC to catch Eric & Upin Ipin. I did stay for the whole one hour plus talk by Eric but just the first 15mins for the Upin Ipin show. I really enjoyed Eric's talk about interior design. The way he conveyed his message to the audience was very stimulating. Siuk nyamu =) I learnt a lot from him. Jaga, lawa rumahku ni karang =P

So, I took all the pictures below from my seat except for the first picture. All pictures are in jpeg + no edit except yang b&w one. Even the last two pictures are left unedited. I just joined the pictures together and put on borders on them. Everything from colour tones, contrast and saturation are set in camera before I take photographs. On the downside, the focus of some pictures are here and there hehe... I'm getting used to it. I'll do it slowly. I know USM, you are a very nice guy kan =)

So enjoiceee...

Rano was there too.

Heh... I was looking at this mother. She was very energetic. When the music is funky enough to make you dance, she moved her head up and down and tapped her foot synchronise with the music beat. I waited for her to glance at me at the back and look straight into the lens and........ she did!!! By the time she looked at the lens, I already snapped 5 photos of her and she quickly look to the front balik ;) That happened in a less than 3 seconds and she never looked back again hehe.

So... hi everyone =)

I was just testing my... *ehem...* new glass...!!! =) Its a prime one. Suppose that I had a portraiture session with the girls this afternoon but had to cancel the session because something came up. I will do one more portraiture session for free sometimes next week hopefully. I had a couple of sessions under my sleeves already in the past but I stopped for a while due to some circumstances and I never posted the pictures here. Heh...

So what I did was to shoot whatever I saw from the backyard =D Here's the outcome... Nothing special...

I was in my car when I took this shot.

Saw this housefly when I was playing with the kittens and feeding them.

The rich momma... Makin pemalas dah ni. Makan ikan fresh ganya, inda lagi beguna friskies.

I'm loving the lens. I love the bokeh it produces on each and every pictures I took. Sweeeet...!!! =) And lens apakan ku pakai ani? hehe its for you to find out yourself =)

Mengasah Mata

Last week I attended a photography workshop organised by Candid Syndrome (CS) Brunei. The workshop was called the Asah Mata Workshop. They even flown in the principal photographer himself encik Saiful Nang (SN) from Malaysia to deliver the talk and share some photography tips with us, the participants.

As I said in my previous post that I think the workshop is more into the business side instead of photography skills but the workshop is meant for - just that. There will be another workshop (photocamp) sometimes in June or July which will only focus on to improve photography skills alone. I'll be happy if I could join the photocamp and wanted my photos to be criticized as harsh as possible eventhough the composition is right hahaha... I'm up for that... That's for the good of myself to improve my photography skills... And hopefully the photocamp will be organised in July and by that time I already finished doing my one month of teaching practice =D

So, Day 1 - pricing, photo-essay & lil bit talk on photo compositions.

At the end day 1, each group was assigned with a topic so that we only focus on that particular topic to shoot on the next day. Our topic was...

Topic: Brunei is Beautiful (Bandar Seri Begawan)

Day 2: Photo outing - photo critic - certificate presentation.

So early Sunday the next day, my group and I arrived at BSB at 6:15am to do our assignment. We wandered around the taman area, tamu, the 6oth monument, yayasan, SOAS mosque and lastly on top of the PGGMB building.

Well the pictures below don't represent how beautiful our country are ;) We switched cameras, we switched lenses. So, whose picture whose, I don't know haha ;) I just post the ones I remember that I photographed by myself.

Since I equipped myself with 11-16mm on the camera, most of the time I think about SOAS mosque. I think I can get a killer shot for that =) Here you go... Straight from the camera, no edit =D

I love this one!! =D But I've seen too many shots of this before... so its not special to me =) I LOVE WIDE ANGLE PICTURES... tapi aku inda mampu ;) Haha... Nanti, insyaallah mun belabih rezeki ku kau ah Wide Angle =P

and lastly...

Nothing interesting hehe...

After that, we handed over our pictures at 2pm for the critic session. I love this session because here, we learned something that what we should do and what we can improve. I heard words which are 'not suppose to be published' here came out from SN and AR haha but yeah... Its a good thing =) I submitted only two of my pictures, the SOAS one and one more is about the flag at the taman which I don't upload here. I received good critics on both pictures. But I was slapped with a heavy critic from AR about the picture with my name below but the picture is not mine!!!! HAHAHA panat wah durang ah sukati bagi nama, aku tepulang yang kana haha. Nevermind, it was only a one day photo outing and critic session =D

It was a great two-day workshop and it was my first ever photography workshop I've ever attended in my whole life. I wanna join more and learn from the best!!! And as what SN said... "who doesn't want to be a polished diamond?"

Hi there... Sorry, I'm a bit slow updating the blog again ;) Recently, I joined a photography workshop organised by CS Brunei. The workshop was more into business side instead of photography side but it was fun. I'll talk about it in the next post, insyaallah.

So today...

I had a gulintangan performance with the IRB at the Li Gong Rst at the Empayarrr Hotel this morning. We performed for one of the local bank which promotes and launched their C-Card today at the hotel. It was a quite short performance and we had to switch to plan B since our plan A didn't work out due to some circumstances - ngalih saja practice hahaha... However, it was just ok ok, yang penting hasil =P Alhamdulillah...

We're going to play together again on the 13th for the bridal runaway... Its going to be a different stuffs than we always do. Different type of style and... LAINLAH... hahaha... I'll just rely on the music notes provided to us. Hopefully I can do wonder on the piano =P

26th N-Day

Happy 26th national day Brunei...!!! =) Its not too late to say that eh? hehe... I feel grateful that for the past 26 years we were blessed with peace & harmony under the rule of our khalifah, his majesty the sultan. Thank you very much HM... your generosity cannot be repaid in whatever way we can do that makes this country, the country it is today =)

So... this year's celebration, I went down to the city to watch the national day parade and ofcourse looking for some photo oppurtunities. It drizzled calmly that early morning. The weather was cool... I could see people practicing their marching for the last time before the parade started. People from all walks of life came to Bandar to experience and look themselves how the once a year event went. I saw many tourists too... and tons of DSLR users swarming the area outside the Taman ;) Well that includes me eheh...

I was with Aryf... wandering around the bandar, looking for some colourful stuffs and some moments that we could photograph and keep them as 'kenangan' on the country's 26th national day ;)

I was quite surprise myself that I didn't take lots of photos... Inda banyak panya ku ambil atu ;) I was there like many others to witness the event itself. Photograph pun sikit-sikit saja. Here are some of the pictures that I took... Enjoy =)

I was just taking random picture and then this guy above stared at me and he looked like he was thinking about something. Then I fled away... When I reached home and opened the files... the man in the picture above is actually a friend of mine!!! He's my senior of four years who we used to play gulintangan together. He played the accordian and I played the gulintangan AND we won the competition ahaha... Didn't notice you dude... Lama dah inda jumpa atu bah... So I wish you good luck in whatever you do. Berapa dah anak ni? haha.

The picture above won the 2nd place in the UBD photography competition. I was $60 richer yesterday hahaha... Alhamdulillah. If I knew there was a competition a week before the deadline, I would've taken tons of photos just for the sake of the competition haha nevermind. Syukur tah... Siapa membari $60 ;)

After the march pass finished, Aryf & I went straight to the nearby restaurant to have some tid bits to eat. Was hoping that we would not miss the BFF group hug anddddd as expected... We missed it. We were late hahaha... But we still manage to hang around with some of the forum members after we finished eating. Jaditah.... =)

Now, that's wide!!!

It is always my dream to have a wide angle lens... I'm thinking of getting one. I was dreaming last night of pulling out a wide angle lens from my crumpler bag and use it to photograph wedding - naaah i'm just joking =) I'll eventually will get one insyaallah. Mun rezeki menggambar belabih banyak... Banyak tah wide2 gambar disini tu hehe. At the moment, my budget is enough to buying 70-200 2.8 but sigma releases new lenses yesterday, I think I have to delay buying one... WAIT TIL IT REACHES BRUNEI AND I DEFINITELY WILL GRAB YOU BABY!!! =P

Back to the wide angle issue... I was asked by some photogs after shooting the national day parade that most of the photos I've taken were wide and asking me what lens I am using. They were surprise that I am only using 18-55 lens on a crop body =D Wide kah?? Inda jua ;)

I have to admit that I am influenced too much by wide angle wedding pictures from some great photographers blogs. I tried to imitate the wide angle compositions from their pictures. But in the end, I have to think back that... I'm only using 18mm... *sob*sob* mamaaaaaaa!!! papaaaaa!!! AHAHAHA.

Btw, I used a 10-20mm owned by armie for the picture above =)

Oops, My Bad...!!! - Part 2

So... yesterday I was complaining about the slow-ness of my lappy. Yes, I did window shopping soon after I finished my lecture at 2pm this afternoon. Went to Qlap and several computer shops around the area. At first I went to CF 'raja' to check if they were selling some RAMs with good prices. But I thought the price was way too high but when I went to other computer shops, surprisingly the prices of the same product varies and costed more than what CF 'raja'. So I went back to CF and straight away upgraded my lappy RAM.

As I mentioned on yesterday's post, I was planning to upgrade straight away to 4gb but I think at the moment, 3gb should be okay... Will upgrade to the full 4gb sometimes next month.

Nah, there you go...

I feel my lappy performance is much smoother than before when I am opening several different applications at the same time especially when opening my favourite-ever-application that is photoshop... Oh I am just being sarcastic there hahaha...

So yeah... my bad for not acknowledging the basic part of the computer that can be upgraded such as RAM and stuffs to boost the performance of the laptop.

Oops, My Bad...!!!

Lemme explain. I always get frustrated easily when the picture that I edited is not yummy enough to my eyes. I even feel disappointed when my lappy goes lagging while editing. Two days ago I experienced my mouse cursor stop for two minutes and the lappy went like a headless chicken as well. I, on the other hand, frequently go out of the room and have a few steps to the TV room and go back to my room hoping that the laptop goes back to normal. But what happened today was that... while editing assignment pictures then suddenly it switches off automatically. I tried to switch it on again but it could not start. I rebooted it again and things came out like... System repair and such... hahaha... entah eh mana saja tah... After all the ordeal, 10 minutes of waiting for the system repair... things get back to normal again as if there is nothing happening. But one thing still stays the same... Lagging... Lagging... Lagging... I've already transferred all my important files, pictures, videos and stuffs on two hard disks. One used for the retrieval of the files and one used as the back up...

And that tells me that I need to upgrade my lappy RAM. Does 4gb of RAM sounds better? Haha... I'm going for window shopping after lecture tomorrow =)

CNY at Bandar

It was CNY yesterday... The forum guys had planned a mass outing at the capital's temple. I joined them as the CNY only happen once a year so this is the oppurtunity to take pictures for us and know more what the Chinese do during the new year.

These are just some of the photos that I photographed... some more... in the hard disk haha I keep them as stock photos as always =) So enjoy looking at my humble and not professional pictures =)

When I think back a year ago... I was thinking that I only doing photography just for hobby... I do own a p&s camera which I gave it to my brother. Now, I am doing concert photography and portraitures for two companies. At the same time, I am studying at the university doing education degree.

One time last week when I was doing a portraiture shots, I brought along my laptop and edit the pictures on the spot then showed to them. I am glad that they all like all the pics. I am glad that there was a generous person who lend me a Can-on full frame camera with 24-70em em for the whole session for free. I'm the talkative person behind the camera. I just want my client to enjoy the photoshoot and pose candidly as possible. I was quite nervous actually... some of those I photographed were photogs with good eyes for pictures. Some of them were established photogs as well. Must be taking their day off from camera eh?? hahaha... Hello guys, I know you are reading this =)

A year ago... again... Strobing is kinda new to me. At the moment, multiple of flashlights, light stands, umbrellas, softboxes, they are kinda my bolts and nuts. Every assignments, expect me to bring a bag filled with all those stuffs haha. I thought umbrellas are only used during rainy days ;)

Another thing is, I always have difficulty in answering things like...
"do you have a blog"
"do you have a business card"
"how much do you pay"
I always have answers like as if I don't have a blog... Sometimes I dare to say, I don't have a blog... Only a personal blog but without giving out the url. Something like that.

This is something funny when it comes to talking about business card.
"Do you have a business card?"
"Ada business card bro??"
"Laa nada, cemana business ni" haha...
I admit that I don't have any business card. Usually, I jokingly said to them that I am not a photographer, I am just a musician. But at the same time, I showed them my gulintangan business card HAHAHAHAHA... but yeah... they all took and keep the card but only I did that to those who I believe they are cool not too strict in whatever way they are... I learnt that from experience and I am aware of different types of people and their sensitivities =D

What I love most is payment!!! Who doesn't love money?? Tell me... But money is not everything. I have this attitude that is rather negative than positive. After all those photography assignments, I question myself, do all the pictures worth the amount of money that I received? I have seen many blogs, met with different people who had done photography assignments... They charged their clients with expensive price but the end products are just like few pences sometimes does not even worth a cent. Same goes to me... I think I am the worst critic of my own pictures... They don't worth anything... but something...

The pictures below were taken at the backstage before they performed on the stage. It was not a proper individual photoshoot without proper equipments and stuffs, I only used the materials available there =)

Who are they? They are our future local artistes who are going to stamp their names inside the local entertainment industry book... I have yet to memorise all of their names since they are 18 of them altogether. I'm going to put up just some of the pictures.

Btw, this is not the actual photoshoot as I said earlier on. I will be taking the proper ones with proper lightings and background sometimes around this week. So... enjoy =)

Okay, this is not a photoshoot =) By the end of the anugerah Arr-Tee-Bee, we had this many dancers hanging around chatting here and there with each other. Some of them were taking pictures and stuffs... so the girl above approaches us, the photographers to take pictures of her. So she did all the poses, we, on the other hand adjusted our camera angle to take good pictures of her =)

My new family members...

Lately, as I return home from the uni, I didn't go straight up to my room and switching on the lappy to surf on the internet. Instead, I went straight to the backyard and play with the 'new family members' =)

Do you smelllelelelele what the mama is cookin'??

This is a siamese cat that been staying at the backyard for months. I think I've posted one before eh?? Can't remember. Its a domesticated one tho it's a stray cat initially ;) This mama safely delivered four kittens early in January. The offsprings are two siamese ones and two black ones - 3 females and a male. And they are now about 4 weeks old coming this Sunday. I'm kinda missing the cats' daddy. The daddy disappeared a week before the mama delivered her babies. Somebody must have caught it since the daddy kept on wandering around the place, maybe. Btw this is the daddy...

Hehe this pic is taken sometimes in June last year. Lama sudah.

There are actually two kittens here which I have yet to identify ;) One is kuro and the other one, we have not named it. I can only identify them by looking at the tail. Kuro has longer tail than the 'not named' one =P

I didn't take much photos of Lulu. Just this one. Lulu is the most naughty one among the four. She likes to play hide and seek and her favourite place is to hide inside an old washing machine and squeeze her body through a small area behind the washing machine ;)

I don't know when I will be updating this blog again. I'm busy with uni stuffs and some photoshoots. Glad that there is no photoshoot today, I have time to relax eheh. My next photoshoot will be Sunday for the 'local reality tv show' =) Suppose that I was assigned to photograph things today but was delayed to next week (different company assignment) No chance to hold d300-esss til next week ERRRRR... hahaha... I just love that camera. I was hoping if anybody could borrowed me a pro-camera for the p-two-ef shooting... picture quality will then have less noise and there will be no questions about the clarity =) Nanti tah udah ku ada usin membali sebuting haha mun membali awal ani, tepaksa tah ku makan nasi katuk tiap hari tu hahaha...

Enjoying Concert Fotographia

I've been away for so many times now. So what I did for the last two days was this...

I covered the final elim round of the local reality show. The recording was done in two consecutive days.
I know I am that humble not to type the 'word' to prevent traffics from flowing here into the blog hehe but in the end I know people will end up here ;)

Anyway, I think I enjoyed concert photography!!! =) yea, I really am. I love the way that things happened in a short span of time. In this case, for every contestant that I wanted to photograph whey they were singing, I only have about 3-4 minutes to capture the desired images of the person. But in the period of 3 minutes, there were only a moment or two where the singer will show their right pose particularly when they hit the high note or when they were showing some emotions. If I am lucky, I could get tons of photos of different variations provided that the contestants is really showing off their colour on stage. My photos are as good as the contestants. Here you go another one...

Emotion much?? hehe...

Yep... again I should say... concert photography is 'awesome-ness' =P

On the down side, I need a new semi-pro camera body and a new f2.8 zoom lens for myself. I should ask one to buy them for me for my birthday presents - in November!!! abis dah concert!!! hahahaha =P For future investment ok jua tu ah?? eheh...

I'm back again after days of not updating this blog. Lots of things I did in the past few days... Gulintangan, photoshootings, travelling 'again' and recently, I am back with uni stuffs. New semester started yesterday. I am just not happy with the timetabling... lots of clashes... negotiation after negotiation, now I am left with two courses only which are needed to be settled in the next few days. I've been all over the place... It's been tiring...

At the moment, my camera is in dormant state since the photoshooting of the friends on Saturday. Because I'm using neeekon Dee300-ess with Sebenty-2oo M-emm VR =) Its not mine btw but i labbit eheh. You must be thinking cos I've been a 'kinun' user eversince I started photography =P

I'll continue posting pictures of me travelling in the next few days, insyaallah.

Rainforest Visit (Indoor)

Last Friday, we spent the whole day in 1B. So what's 1B? 1B stands for one borneo. It's a huge megamall and the place where I met many Bruneians hehe. So what really caught our eyes as we walked all the way to the top floor was this indoor rainforest exhibition. We decided to enter the exhibition as it looked so interesting. There were only 7 of us as the other 4 walked around 1B on their own. And... are you readyyyyy??? =P

The rainforest also exhibited an indigenous man demo-ing how to light fire from stones but only for about a minute then the indigenous man ran back into the forest hahahaha sorry boy!!! hahahah...

Well, what I can say is that, I'm not a fan of this kind of exhibition where animals a kept in small cage making them difficult to maneuver around. I feel so pity for the animals. I feel like wanting to let them free... sigh... well =)

Trip to Ma-nu-kan Island =)

So this is the 1st series of my trip to KK.

The first day we arrived in KK, there was nothing much to do, just settling our luggages in the apartment and did some shopping at the centrepoint. Btw, we lived at the marina court and centrepoint is just 300 metres away.

Things started on the second day. All 11 of us went to Manukan island. Enjoy the photos guys =)

The guy with the white cap at the very front ushered us to our boat. We were very eager to go to manukan!!! hehe.

Before we proceed to the Island, we were offered many activities to choose and ofcourse we had to pay for any activities that we participated. I chose parasailing. It costed me rm70 but we must be in pair, therefore rm140 (rm70/person). Some of us even rented some snorkels as they wanted to snorkling at the Island.

It was great to see the scenery on our way to the Island. The sea wasn't rough and not wavy. It was calm all the way. Here I managed to photograph a boat infront of us cutting the line in between two of the Islands. Manukan Island is on the right. I could not remember the name of the island on the left.

We sent off our friends first who did not join the parasailing to Manukan while the rest,us, went just about a kilometer away and enjoyed our activity.

Before everything started, these two guys prepared the things for the parasailing and equipped us wearing the safety accessories before we began.

Aiman and Alif were the first batch to fly up. Happy ni ahahaha...

At some points in the period of 10minutes, our driver slowed down the boat just to lower the parachute down so making them to make contact with the water... just the legs pulang =D

This is what I was talking about... Atu basah haha... We all experienced this. At least the driver did this to us tree times in a period of 10 minutes.

Surely this guy knows how if feels up in the air. It was so high up and you can look 360 degree up above. Those who are afraid of height... you know how it feels hehehe but I am NOT =D Aku manang ni bro!!! =D

It was extremely calm up high in the air. We could not even hear the sound of the sea... It was just... CALM... really really calm up there and so relaxing.

And all of us that joined the parasailing activities =)

Almost an hour we spent at the sea nearby, we finally sent off to the Island and met up with the rest of our colleagues. I did not take lots of photos on the island. I just let c Boy took lots of pictures for us instead. I felt like I just wanted to enjoy the activities there. Maybe I should hire a photographer for us instead?? wawawawa...

I spotted a boy swimming under the jetty. Looked like he enjoyed playing with the fish while swimming.

Though I did not rent the snorkel, but I did borrow from one of us. Aku pun snorkling yehaaaaa!!! At first, I was panicking because I'm not used to breathing using the mouth while swimming but after a while... it was all good. I enjoyed snorkling very much =D

While doing nothing, waiting for the rest to finish their activities, Boy and I went for photo outing around the island. The beach - lawa!!! I love the white sand and crystal clear water. At the back of the island, there were beachrocks patterns. But I did not take lots of photos of it. I was wondering one day, definitely I will stay at the island and take photos during sunrise and sunset photographing landscapes =) I just love it...

I spotted this area while we were on our way to the back of the island hehe... basah2 pun self-photograph jua =P

After the guys finished all their activities, we all dropped by the restaurant and I even played one or two notes on the gamelan. It does not sound the same as local gulintangan here. The tones are way too different. Bebunyi jua uleh ku hahaha lagu jawa jadi tah =P

and after that, we were all ready to go back to the jetty.

What a trip it was... I'm gonna visit the island again if I have time to visit KK & ofcourse money!! =)

I'm finally back in Brunei now, alhamdulillah. I safely arrived here around 7pm today. It was just a short flight from KK. 30mins perhaps?? Somewhere around that period. It was an enjoyable 6 days stay. Lots of things to share, lots of things that I experienced. Walking for hours on the street and in shopping complexes looking for things that I wanted to buy and such. It was a memorable one. Well, lets keep this post short for now. I will update this space from time to time about the trip. Let me have enough rest first =D

Azry Taking Hiatus From Blogging

Oh... I've got a picture for today!!! =P

So today is the last day that I'll be spending infront of my laptop. The six days away from home, for sure I'll miss opening my lightroom and CS3 editing pictures ;) I don't bring my lappy with me for the trip. I don't want to bring extra kilos to my already compact luggage haha but 3/4 of my luggage is filled with food such as packets of instant noodle and some packets of tea. I do bring a small rice cooker, as always if I am travelling. It comes in handy went you want to eat mee during midnight time hehe. I always did that when travelling and living in a hotel. Wohooo... =D

What else... oh... I will miss blogging too!!! lets put a sad emoticon next to this sentence =( =( =( haha 3 will do. The place where I will live for 6 days has no internet access and that's one of the reasons that I do not bring my lappy =) Well, I am a bit disappointed with the lack of internet connection but still... I will survive... =) I know I always find something for my own entertainment. Another thing, doa kan tah ku disana sihat walafiat and terjaga solat farduku... terjaga makananku & sebagainya... amiin.

So, I declare that this blog will be on hiatus for 6 days...

Sunday yesterday was a relief for a busy person like me... There wasn't any gulintangan performance for us, Canang Sambilan. I'm a busy person?? eheh... yep. But today was the same story as Saturday but more tiring. My team performed in two sessions, morning and night for the 'balik ka sakulah' promotion ;) If you did visit ICC this morning and at night, you saw those musical instruments up there on the stage, those were our instruments =) Though we were tired but I felt everyone in the team enjoyed the two sessions, did you guys? haha... Yea, I really enjoyed it.

After this hectic December full with gulintangan gigs and at the same time, I am covering for entertainment and formal events, yes ofcourse at different times, I think, I deserve a rest. I'll be leaving Brunei for Kota Kinabalu tomorrow - Wednesday morning!!! =) I'll be there with my coursemates for 6 days!!! yes 6 days =D There will be 13 of us altogether - all boys. Will travel by aeroplane. Malas drive atu... end of year tah lagi.

Was thinking of buying some accessories for the camera... I need new piano music books as well cos I've been craving to play new music on the piano lately ;) I love romantic songs because I am romantic HAHAHAAHAH you suck Azry!!! =P astaaa... Well, actually my priority nowadays will be buying more photography equipments because I know, my email is now constantly getting fatter and bigger with people asking if I could take photos for 'anything'... Was hoping if I could turn this into business as what I did with my Canang Sambilan. Well, I am very selective on choosing events.. Money is not always the first choice. Its the content of the event which I am very interested in. Well oh well...

So I'm thinking if I could get a 70-200mm in KK during this new year sale. Or a wide angle lens 11-16 perhaps?? I'm loving that lens a lot!! I need a flash trigger and two receivers to strobe. And that's all I guess... I don't think I need a backdrop... I'm more into funky stuffs doing portraitures outdoor rather than studio-like shooting (indoor)... =)

Today is a lil bit special... because there will be no pictures that I will be putting here =) Once in a while bah... boleh kan?? Inda~ haha... Even, tomorrow... perhaps??

So you've been waiting for 'tomorrow'? ;) hehe... My plan was cancelled at the last minute due to some factors. I didn't take many pictures for the last two days... I have tons of pictures to be edited and handed to editor. The editor asked me to select just the best 10 pictures but I love all the pictures... cemana ni? Hahaha in the end, I have to obey whatever was asked to do. Ten, ten lah... Ten ten one... ten ten two... HAHA...

I've been handling pro grade camera for the past days to shoot for events for the *ehem* company... 5d mark two bui with sebenty two handred em em AI ESS... oh my... Too bad, I can't bring the camera home and copy all the pictures to my external hard drive. Hmmm ;)

Well... I can only say... I can't believe it... ahaha...

So, Saturday morning, I had a gig in dewan kemasyarakat II in lambak kanan. It was a good performance by my team.. We enjoyed every minute of performing in front of the audiences. Hope we can we sustain that kind of performance for all of the event that we will be performing in the future - next gig that is =) That's why I posted the picture of my group at the above... ;) Apakan... I just feel so lame tonight... haha...

Sunrise outing at Mentiri Golf Club - 25th Dec 2009

It was very unusual for me to wake up early then went somewhere just to take landscape photos... That is what I did this morning. Went out with the BFF members to Mentiri Golf Club... The scenery was very nice and i felt this calmness upon reaching the end of the golf club. The wind blew so calmly even those who put on their wig, the wig remains intact to their head AHAHAHAHA... =P

And...

Lets enjoy some landscapes for today...

I just love taking pictures during the blue hour... During sunset and sunrise, they are the best time to take photos if you want a natural blue coloured background which comes from the reflection of the sun.

And... HDR shot =)
I am not a fan of HDR but I keep on doing it lately hahaha... Its just that I don't wanna be left behind with all the latest techniques and stuffs.

And the last picture above is not a HDR image... Its one of the three pictures that I used to create the HDR image. I love the overexposed part of the image therefore I posted it here!!! =D

I'll be shooting again during sunset later... Make sure you come back here again tomorrow =P

Outing - Polo Club

I had an outing this afternoon at the JPMC beach with BFF members. There were only five who came. The main theme for the outing was sunset but I could not resist taking pictures of other things instead of just focusing on the sunset alone. It was a good day. The weather was kind to us eventhough there were some bad clouds hovering up in the sky which I don't like when I take pictures ;)

I have a restless day today. Morning, badminton. Afternoon, went to RIPAS. Then 5pm, sunset outing with the BFF. Fuuh... ;) So, enjoy looking at the pictures...

BBQ with the Bio undergrads =)

So yesterday I was invited to join the BBQ by them... The bio undergrads. I don't take biology in uni but I used to study it in A level. It was a hot day... The weather was very humid too!!! It did not take long before I started to sweat when I am exposed to direct sunlight so most of the time I spent my time under the shade ;)

Thanks to the organiser... Ted who made the bbq gathering for you guys successful. They made a few activities which were indeed fun tho I was just looking at them playing LOL. The food were yummy... but I did not consume a lot. There were kambingsss chop and ayamssss hahaha.. So delicious yum!!!! Besides that, I love eating potatoes when they are stuffed with tuna at the inside... Oh yummeh!! Alhamdulillah... kanyang jua...

I did take lots of photos during the BBQ. Might upload the rest at the fb. Have fun at looking at them...

Well done guys for BBQ-ing our food. They were nyaman and well-cooked!!

I've been travelling with the family every new year. Went to KL for the last 3 consecutive years but 2010 is something different perhaps?? =) I'll be travelling with my coursemates, 13 of them - all guys. Yeah!!! But I havent been researching a lot on the internet on where to go and blaaahh... The place where we will live during the 5 days stay is already been confirmed. Its gonna be a nice place to stay =)

I have a favour for those who has been to KK to list down the places that you recommend. I know Manukan Island is a must place to go!!! =) Type arah comment di bawah post ani ah =) Thanks for the input in advance.

~Salam~

This morning was different. Usually after subuh, I crash again to bed and then wake up around 10-11am?? hehe... But, I had to go to Temburong to teach some kids gulintangan music. So, we left the tambing exactly at 8am and arrived there in about 45 minutes later. Lets see what I photographed from the seat I sat during the whole 45mins trip.

As we arrived there at Temburong's tambing, we had our breakfast first at one of the restaurants there. And then somebody took and drove us to Kg.Buda Buda where the practice was held. So the practice was held here..............

This is the house next the to the place where the kids had their practice. The place was at the koperasi Kg Buda-buda/Belais... I don't know... ;)

Before we entered the place, the guy worked at the 'koperasi' was kind enough letting us to pick up some rambutans at the nearby trees.

The practice finished around 12noon. After lunch, we went back to the Tambing and back to Brunei Muara =)

These two guys just could not wait to go home...

And then... bye... Off we went home...

I'll be going to Temburong again next week on Monday... same thing... same time... and will post the second part of this series... insyaallah...
